Ration Card – Big news for Ration Card holders. E-KYC is necessary for every cardholder who lifts ration. According to the instructions of the department, the names of beneficiaries who do not get e-KYC done will be removed from the ration card. Despite this, 3,90,044 beneficiaries in the entire district have not got e-KYC done. In such a situation, there is a danger of the names of these beneficiaries being cancelled from the ration card.

This is the situation when the government had set the last date for this as 30 June. This figure includes people from ration card holding families in urban areas as well. According to the information, the total number of members in ration cards issued in the entire district is 18,24,818.

Despite repeated instructions given at the government level, till now only about 14,34,774 people have completed the task of getting e-KYC done, which is 78.60 percent of the total target. According to the data, 21.40 percent of the target in the district is incomplete.

Under the National Food Security Act 2013, it was made mandatory for all beneficiaries of the Targeted Public Distribution System to do e-KYC by 30 June. Even after this deadline, a record number of beneficiaries have not shown interest in e-KYC.

The government has made a provision to remove the name of the concerned member from the ration card in case e-KYC is not done. Also, such a beneficiary will not be able to get the benefit of Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

Responsibility was handed over to the Block Supply Officer

E- Guidelines were issued to all block supply officers and public distribution system shopkeepers to get KYC done. A door-to-door campaign was also conducted for this. Even after this, more than 3.90 lakh beneficiaries have been deprived of e-KYC. In such a situation, clouds of crisis have started looming over their ration.

District Supply Officer Kaiser Jamal said that the department’s guidelines are awaited. Clear instructions have not been received from the government yet regarding date extension or removal of name. Further action will be taken in the light of departmental instructions.
