Who will get benefits from the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana?
The list of beneficiaries under this government-launched scheme is quite extensive. It has often been observed that many farmers are unable to generate sufficient profits compared to the cost of crop production. Therefore, the government has specifically designed this scheme to provide such farmers with the opportunity to expand their businesses. However, this scheme is not limited to farmers only. Various sectors involved in fish farming, such as traditional fishermen, fish farmers, fish workers, vendors, and members of the Fisheries Corporation, are eligible for this scheme. Fisheries cooperatives and private companies involved in this sector are also eligible to apply. The objective is to empower the fisheries industry as a whole and create new employment and income opportunities.
Scheme Grant Amount
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, beneficiaries are provided grants based on their business costs. General category applicants receive financial assistance of up to 40 percent of the total cost. However, women, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes are eligible for higher benefits. They receive grants of up to 60 percent of the project cost. This assistance plays a vital role in increasing investment in the fisheries industry and making it more profitable.
