IPPB will utilize its vast network for this service. Over 1.65 lakh post offices across the country and approximately 300,000 postal service providers (postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks) will participate in this initiative. All have been equipped with banking devices and biometric systems to facilitate the easy submission of pensioners’ digital life certificates through facial recognition technology and fingerprint biometric verification.

Employees covered under the EPFO are required to have their life certificates verified annually. Previously, pensioners had to visit banks or EPFO offices for this purpose. However, the Digital Life Certificate system now allows this process to be completed online. This will relieve senior citizens of long queues and paperwork, saving time.

Learn When the Service Launched

India Post Payments Bank launched the Doorstep Digital Life Certificate service in 2020. The purpose of this service was to allow pensioners to obtain life certificates from the comfort of their homes through Aadhaar-based biometric verification. Now, this facility will be even more widely available to EPFO pensioners. Pensioners can submit their certificates by visiting their nearest post office or contacting the postman or Gramin Dak Sevak in their area.

How to Avail the Service

Pensioners will only need to provide their Aadhaar number and pension-related details. Postal employees or Gramin Dak Sevaks will visit their homes and generate digital life certificates through facial recognition or fingerprint biometric verification. This process eliminates any technical complications for pensioners.
