The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) was launched in 2015 to address the skilling needs of youth in the country. Following the success of the first phase, the second phase was launched in 2016, which ran until 2020. Subsequently, the third phase of PMKVY was implemented in 2020, with a target of training approximately 800,000 youth.

Skill Training Facilities in 40 Sectors

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 2023, youth are being trained in 40 key sectors, including construction, electronics and hardware, food processing, furniture and fittings, handicrafts, gems and jewelry, and leather technology, among other emerging sectors. This skill training is being provided through 5,000 training centers and 32,000 training partners across the country.

Large-scale training in the healthcare sector

In June 2022, a healthcare-related program was launched under PMKVY 3. Under this initiative, over one lakh citizens are being trained in healthcare skills. Approximately 124,000 people from 425 districts across 33 states and union territories applied, and a large number of youth have received training.

How Training is Provided Under the Scheme

PMKVY 3 provides training through three major avenues: short-term training, recognition of prior learning, and training under special projects. This helps youth learn industry-specific skills and increase employment opportunities.

Required Documents for Applying for the Scheme

Youth applying for the scheme can complete the registration process by providing their Aadhaar card, identity proof such as voter ID, bank passbook, mobile number, and passport-size photo.
