PM Surya Ghar Yojana: As time goes on, the demand for electricity is increasing across the country. Everyone wants a roof over their head and electricity in that house. But the cost of electricity is rising rapidly day by day. People are finding no solution. Although the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, run by the Central Government, has changed many lives. As a result of this scheme, the electricity bills of many households have dropped to zero.
Meanwhile, seeing the progress of this government scheme, 40 lakh people have joined the scheme so far. As per govt sources, ‘Solar on every rooftop, savings in every home, PM Surya Ghar, Through the free electricity scheme, 40 lakh families are now moving towards zero electricity bills. This is a symbol of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for an energy self-reliant India.’
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Friday said a total of 40 lakh houses have been installed with solar systems under the government’s ‘PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme’. In X, He wrote, India is continuously setting new milestones in the field of green energy. The addition of 2.7 GW rooftop solar capacity in the country between January and March 2026 is proof that clean energy has now become a mass participation movement. The rooftops of millions of families are not only meeting their electricity needs but are also becoming a new source of income.’
He also wrote, ‘Under the visionary leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, India is rapidly advancing on the path of energy self-reliance, environmental conservation, and sustainable development.’

Meanwhile Power Minister reviews Power Sector in Mizoram Progress under PM-KUSUM and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana was also reviewed the State was urged to accelerate beneficiary registration and installation targets under both schemes
