Salary Factor
The central government has moved forward with the 8th Pay Commission process, and various employee organizations are continuously presenting their demands to the commission. Several employee organizations have demanded an increase in the fitment factor to 3.8 and an increase in the minimum basic salary to Rs 65,000. Government expenditure on salaries, pensions, and allowances has already reached lakhs of crores of rupees. Therefore, it will not be easy for the government to fully accept all the employees’ demands. Even after the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission , the annual additional financial burden on the government increased significantly. This is why the government may adopt a balanced approach to salary revision this time.
