A promise made in the NDA’s manifesto regarding farmers has now become a topic of discussion. It would not be wrong to say that if this promise is realised, it could change the fortunes of millions of farmers in Bihar. With the Bihar elections now very near, everyone’s eyes are fixed on who will form the government in Bihar this time. This raises the question: will the annual 9,000 rupees given to farmers really prove to be a mere political game?

The alliance has announced that if it forms the government in Bihar, in addition to the 6,000 rupees already received under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the state government will provide an additional 3,000 rupees to farmers. Does this mean that Bihar farmers will now receive 9,000 rupees annually instead of 6,000 rupees?

Elections will be held in two phases for 243 seats, with results declared on November 14th. Meanwhile, the NDA has released its manifesto, making a significant promise to provide relief to farmers. According to the alliance, if it forms the government in Bihar, the state government will provide an additional ₹3,000 to farmers, in addition to the amount received under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Currently, under the central government’s PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, farmers receive ₹6,000 annually.

When will the 21st instalment Released?
The PM Kisan Yojana was launched by the Government of India in 2019. Under this scheme, farmers are provided financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually. A total of 21 installments have been released so far. However, the 21st installment was only transferred to the accounts of 2.7 million flood-affected farmers in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. According to reports, funds may be transferred to farmers’ accounts in other states in November. However, this information has not been officially shared.
