PM Kisan Yojana: Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which offers financial support to farmers, the government has urged them to update their necessary information and documents. Many farmers in Uttar Pradesh have outstanding installments. The Yogi government states that if farmers rectify their information promptly, they could receive their pending installments once more.

Why were farmers’ installments halted?

As per government statistics, more than 16.98 lakh farmer families in Uttar Pradesh are struggling to obtain benefits from the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Several factors have contributed to this issue. A significant number of farmers did not provide accurate land information during registration.

In numerous instances, both the previous and current owners of the same land are benefiting from the scheme simultaneously. Additionally, some beneficiaries have acquired land from other sources after February 1, 2019, which has impacted their eligibility.

Farmers receive Rs 6000 annually under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi

Through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, eligible farmers receive financial assistance of Rs 6000 directly into their bank accounts in three installments each year. However, this payment may be halted due to document discrepancies or incomplete information. The government has encouraged farmers to update their information on the portal as soon as possible. Farmers can visit pmkisan.gov.in and select the ‘Update Missing Information’ option. They can also reach out to the nearest Public Service Center or Agriculture Department office.

Farmer registration is essential in UP

A significant administrative initiative has been launched for farmers in Uttar Pradesh. Without a Farmer ID, farmers will no longer be able to access benefits from various government schemes, including the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The Agriculture Department has ramped up the “Farmer Registry Campaign,” an ongoing effort to create digital identities for farmers, enabling them to access benefits directly and transparently.

Why is Farmer Registry necessary?

According to the government, the Farmer Registry will allow farmers to easily access various agricultural schemes, such as subsidies for seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural equipment. Most importantly, a Farmer ID has been made mandatory to receive installments under the PM Kisan Yojana.
