PM Kisan Update: If you want to receive the next installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, this information could be very important for you. Under this scheme, farmers receive Rs. 6,000 annually, which is transferred directly to their bank accounts in three installments of Rs. 2,000 each. So far, 21 installments of the scheme have been released, and about 9 crore farmers are waiting for the 22nd installment.
Meanwhile, farmers have many questions regarding the Farmer ID. The biggest question is whether they will receive the Rs. 2,000 installment without a Farmer ID or not? The government has now given a clear answer on this.
For which farmers is the Farmer ID mandatory?
In a reply given in the Rajya Sabha, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare clarified that the Farmer ID is not yet mandatory for all farmers. In the 14 states where the Farmer ID has been implemented, it is mandatory for new farmers at the time of registration.
However, in states where this system has not yet been implemented, existing beneficiaries can still avail the benefits of the PM Kisan scheme without a Farmer ID. Such farmers need not worry for now. If a farmer wants to register anew, they should first check whether the Farmer ID is mandatory in their state or not.

Why is the Farmer ID being introduced?
Through the Farmer ID, the government wants to ensure that the scheme’s money reaches only genuine and eligible farmers. The Farmer ID links the farmer’s land, Aadhaar, and bank account information to a single system. This helps in removing fake beneficiaries. In the future, this Farmer ID will also be useful in other government schemes.
Can the installment be stopped if there is no Farmer ID?
In states where the Farmer ID has been implemented, if a farmer has not obtained a Farmer ID, their next installment of Rs. 2,000 may be withheld. In such cases, the system may verify the farmer’s details. Therefore, in states where the Farmer ID has become mandatory, it is advisable to register in time.
Who can apply for a Farmer ID? Only farmers who own agricultural land in their name can obtain a Farmer ID. Small and marginal farmers are also eligible. The land records must be accurate, and the Aadhaar number must be linked to a mobile number. Farmers already enrolled in the PM Kisan Yojana are also advised to obtain a Farmer ID.
Documents required for Farmer ID:
Aadhaar card
Land ownership documents
Bank account details
Active mobile number
In some states, a residence or caste certificate may also be required.

How to obtain a Farmer ID:
In most states, Farmer ID registration is done online. Farmers can apply through their state’s agriculture portal. They need to fill in land, bank, and personal information. Verification is done through an OTP sent to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number. After verification, the Farmer ID is issued.
What are the benefits of a Farmer ID?
Having a Farmer ID will ensure timely receipt of the Rs. 2,000 installment under the PM Kisan Yojana. Additionally, it will eliminate the need to repeatedly submit documents for crop insurance, subsidies, and other government schemes. A single ID will provide access to multiple schemes, and the money will be directly credited to the bank account.
If the Farmer ID scheme has been launched in your state, don’t delay and register as soon as possible. This rule may be implemented in all states in the future, so it’s wise to be prepared.
