PF Pension- There is a big news for crores of PF account holders. Soon they will get good news. The government is now preparing to increase the minimum pension. For a long time, 78 lakh pensioners have been demanding an increase in the pension amount. Currently, under the Employee Pension Scheme (EPS), employees get a minimum pension of Rs 1000 per month. But now the government is preparing to increase it to Rs 3000.
According to many report, the government can implement it in the next few months. If this decision is taken, then this step of the government will benefit lakhs of retired employees. In the year 2014, it was increased from Rs 250 to Rs 1000 by the central government. If the government increases it to Rs 3000 per month, then lakhs of retired employees will get relief. However, no official statement has come out regarding this yet.
Why is it necessary to increase the pension?
The official said that the need to increase the minimum pension to Rs 3,000 has been felt for a long time. In 2020, the Labor Ministry had sent a proposal to increase the minimum pension to Rs 2,000 to the Finance Ministry. But it was not approved at that time.
Before the general budget in the year 2025, retired employees of EPS met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and demanded to increase the minimum pension to Rs 7,500, at that time assurance was given on this. The total fund of EPS is more than Rs 8 lakh crore. There are 78.5 lakh pensioners under the scheme, out of which 36.6 lakh people get a minimum pension of Rs 1,000. This amount is not sufficient due to rising inflation.
Review of additional expenditure
The Labor Ministry is analyzing the additional expenditure to provide a pension of Rs 3,000. In FY 2024, the ministry spent Rs 1,223 crore to provide minimum pension to EPS pensioners, which is 26% more than Rs 970 crore in the financial year 2023.
