Pension Update: There is a huge update for pensioners. Government has taken a big step. Verification of 61 lakh beneficiaries receiving pension under the National Old Age Pension Scheme will be done. The Uttar Pradesh government is insisting that only the eligible people should get the benefit at all costs in the new financial year 2025-26.

In such a case, after verification, the names of ineligible people will be removed from the list. The names of elderly people who have died in the past will also be removed from the list. The verification work will be completed by May 25. The 25 poorest families of every village will be included in the scheme.

According to Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Asim Arun, the government is committed towards the safety, respect and health of the elderly. Those elderly people above 60 years of age whose annual income is less than Rs 46,080 in rural areas and Rs 56,460 in urban areas can avail the benefits of this scheme. The process of their verification will be completed through BDO in rural areas and SDM in urban areas.

Strong arrangements have been made to ensure that there is no error in verification. The responsibility of cross verification of 10 percent data has been given to divisional deputy directors and district social welfare officers. The process of linking with pension scheme is going on under Zero Poverty Campaign.

The first installment will be released in the month of June

If found eligible, the first installment will be issued to them in the month of June. To make the pension distribution transparent, the beneficiaries were authenticated through their Aadhar card and mobile number and linked to their bank accounts. Arrangements have been made to make payments with the help of a unified portal so that no person can avail the benefit of more than one pension. It is known that in UP, an amount of one thousand rupees is being given every month as old age pension.
