No UAN? Here’s How You Can Check Your PF Balance Easily

PF Balance Check: Nearly every working individual has a set amount transferred each month from their salary into the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF). This fund serves as financial assistance post-retirement and also allows for partial withdrawals when necessary. Hence, it’s essential for every employee to be aware of their PF account balance.

In the past, checking this balance required regular trips to the office, but now most of the process can be done online. However, there are times when employees forget their UAN number or find it inactive. In these cases, many believe that they cannot check their balance without a UAN, but that’s a misconception. You can check your PF balance even without a UAN. Let’s go over how to check your PF balance without needing a UAN number.

You can check your PF balance by making a missed call

If your mobile number is linked to your EPF account, you can easily check your balance with just a missed call. To do this, simply give a missed call to 9966044425 from your registered mobile number. The call will disconnect automatically. Within a few moments, you will receive an SMS containing your member ID, last deposit, and total balance. Please note that this feature is only available if your UAN is active and your Aadhaar, PAN, or bank details are updated in your KYC.

You can also verify your balance via SMS

Additionally, you can check your PF balance without a UAN number through SMS. To do this, send a message from your registered mobile number to 7738299899. Use the message format “EPFOHO UAN ENG” for this number. ENG is for English. If you prefer information in Hindi, you can type HIN instead. Shortly after sending the message, your PF balance details will be sent to your mobile.

What things should be kept in mind while checking PF balance?

In many companies, PF is managed by private trusts. Therefore, employees may not see their balance on the EPFO portal. Therefore, they can obtain information from their salary slips, the company’s internal portal, or the HR department. When checking your PF balance, always remember to link your mobile number to your EPF account. An active UAN is essential, and your Aadhaar, PAN, and bank details must be updated in your KYC. Keep in mind that if your UAN has been activated recently, it may take some time for your passbook to display.
