Tatkal Ticket Booking: To boost transparency, stop fraud, and prioritize regular passengers, Indian Railways revamped the Tatkal ticket booking system and introduced numerous new systems. Agents are now subject to requirements such as Aadhaar verification, OTP verification, and time limits as a result of these changes.
We would like to inform you that, as of July 1, 2025, using the IRCTC website and mobile app for buying Tatkal tickets requires an Aadhaar link and authentication. The traveler must connect his Aadhaar number to his IRCTC profile and have it confirmed.
Today’s OTP-based verification
Not only that, but starting today, July 15, 2025, Railways has made Aadhaar-based OTP verification required for all online Tatkal bookings. Upon booking, guests will receive an OTP on their mobile device, which they must enter to complete the ticket booking process.

For Tatkal ticket bookings made through computerized PRS counters and authorized railway agents, OTP verification will also be necessary as of right now. Only after the OTP issued to the registered smartphone has been verified can tickets be received.
