Weather Alert: Across various parts of North India—including Delhi-NCR—the weather appears to be shifting; while some areas remain overcast, others are basking in sunshine. In the hilly regions, residents continue to contend with the cold due to ongoing snowfall. Meanwhile, weather conditions in the northeastern states have also taken a turn for the worse once again.
In Western Uttar Pradesh, clouds have gathered since early morning, and spells of drizzle are also expected. In most parts of South India, rising temperatures are causing discomfort, leaving people sweating profusely. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds across several states of the country. Read on for essential weather-related updates below.

Weather Forecast for Delhi-NCR
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in the national capital, Delhi, and its surrounding areas is set to become pleasant once again. The skies are expected to remain overcast, and a warning for thunderstorms and rain has been issued. Strong winds are also expected to blow, likely making for pleasant weather conditions. Consequently, day temperatures are currently projected to remain slightly above normal levels. However, over the next few days, temperatures are expected to return closer to seasonal averages, offering further relief.

Possibility of Storms and Rain in the Hills
Over the next two days, rain accompanied by lightning and thunder is anticipated across various parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The IMD has indicated that spells of lightning and strong winds—gusting up to 50 km/h—may persist in these regions. Furthermore, the impact of this weather shift is likely to be felt in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh as well. In the plains, strong storms with wind speeds reaching up to 70 km/h could occur.
Situation in the Northeastern States
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunder is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. In addition to these regions, a weather alert has been issued for Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, warning of rain accompanied by squalls and storms. These areas are likely to witness heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunder and strong winds.
Prospects of Rain in Eastern States
According to the Meteorological Department, there is also a possibility of heavy downpours—accompanied by lightning and thunder—in West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. Given the risk of lightning strikes, people have been urged to exercise caution.
Find Out Where the Heat Will Persist
While rainfall is expected to bring down temperatures in the northern and northeastern states, residents in several parts of coastal Maharashtra and Kerala may face discomfort due to intense heat and high humidity. Furthermore, rising temperatures in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu are likely to cause sweltering conditions for the people there.
