PM Surya Ghar Bijli Yojana: The rising electricity bills and frequent power cuts are causing increasing problems for ordinary people. Whether it’s summer or the rainy season, most household chores depend on electricity. In such a situation, the hefty monthly electricity bill particularly disrupts the budgets of middle-class and low-income families.
To provide relief from this problem, the government has introduced an option that can reduce electricity bills to almost zero in the future. If you take a small step, you can get significant relief from electricity bills by 2026.

Government’s Special Scheme for Free Electricity
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in February 2024. The objective of this scheme is to connect homes across the country with solar energy. Under this scheme, solar panels are being installed on the roofs of houses so that people can generate their own electricity.

The government has allocated a budget of more than Rs 75,000 crore for this scheme and aims to provide solar systems to approximately 1 crore homes by 2026-27. By installing a solar system of the right capacity, you can get up to 300 units of free electricity every month. If more electricity is generated, it can be sent to the grid for additional benefits. This not only reduces the electricity bill but also eliminates the worry of rising electricity rates in the future.
