What the MUDRA Loan Yojana?

The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) is to empower the government-run non-agricultural micro/small enterprises and individuals engaged in income-generating businesses by providing them with small loans. This scheme was launched in 2015. You can apply to nearby non-banking financial institutions/companies (NBFCs), small finance banks, cooperative banks, non-corporate, national government and private banks.

The central government is offering three types of loans under this scheme, Shishu, Kishor and Tarun. Under the Shishu scheme, loans up to Rs 50,000 are provided to start-ups and first-time entrepreneurs. In the Kishor category, loans up to Rs 500,000 are distributed to entrepreneurs with existing businesses and loans up to Rs 10 lakh are distributed under the Tarun scheme. That is, the loan is available as per the requirements of the person.

  • The applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • The age of the applicant should be between 18 years to 65 years.
  • Traders, artisans, small manufacturers, retailers and other business entities can apply.
  • Individuals, start-ups, business owners, entrepreneurs and MSMEs are eligible to apply.
  • Women entrepreneurs, as well as persons belonging to the SC/ST/OBC category

How to apply for Mudra Yojana

If you want to get a loan under the scheme, you must have a business report in manufacturing, processing, trade, textile, service sector, etc., so that you can get benefits in the scheme.

You have to go to a bank and ask for the application form of Mudra Yojana, which has to be filled properly and submitted along with all the documents asked for. If your application is found correct, the bank will provide a loan as per the scheme.
