Following the Iran war, many countries around the world, including India, faced an LPG crisis. However, the Indian government has formulated a plan to overcome this crisis. The public has been urged to consider PNG connections instead of LPG. The government has also provided significant relief to migrant workers.

The central government has doubled the supply of LPG to migrant workers. The daily number of 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders provided to migrant workers in each state is now being doubled. These additional 5 kg FTL cylinders will be provided to state governments and their Food/Civil Supplies departments. These will be distributed exclusively to migrant workers through OMCs (Oil Marketing Companies).

Why did the government take this decision?

The government has taken this decision to ensure easy access to cooking fuel for migrant workers. Through this initiative, daily sales of five-kg FTL cylinders are expected to exceed 100,000 units. According to a government notification, these cylinders will be available to state governments and their food and civil supplies departments, and will be distributed directly to the workers with the help of oil companies. According to the Petroleum Ministry, approximately 6.6 lakh such cylinders have been sold since March 23.
