LPG: Big relief for everyone. Amidst the Iran-US war, India faced a shortage of crude oil and LPG gas. This is now slowly beginning to ease. Meanwhile, some relief has arrived for gas consumers. For the past several days, customers have been receiving LPG cylinders with significant delays even after booking them. However, agencies have now decided to improve the supply chain. Consumers will no longer have to wait as long for cylinders.
Delivery process improving
Recently, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stated in a press conference, “Currently, daily bookings are between 4.6-5 million. Deliveries are normal. On April 16, approximately 5 million refill cylinders were delivered to consumers’ homes. The figures are gradually returning to normal.” She further added that the onset of summer is also contributing to this, as heating needs decrease during this time.

Nearly 98 percent of total demand is met through online bookings, and certified deliveries have increased to over 90 percent to prevent illegal supplies. He also said that since March 23, more than 16.41 lakh market-priced 5-kilogram LPG cylinders have been sold to people without domestic cooking gas connections, including migrant workers, students, working professionals, and small businesses.
