LPG Cylinder: In light of reports of potential impacts on energy supply from global events, the central government has taken significant steps. The government has implemented several changes to maintain a balance between supply and demand. The central government has released some important information regarding fuel supplies in the country, which will provide relief to the common man. Despite the current international situation, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified that supplies of petrol, diesel, and LPG are continuing smoothly. The government has advised people not to panic or make unnecessary purchases.
In light of recent global developments that are likely to impact fuel supplies, the central government has taken significant steps. According to a report, priority is being given to the supply of LPG and PNG, taking into account domestic needs. Special steps have been taken to ensure that there are no disruptions in fuel supplies to hospitals and educational institutions.
Several changes have been made to balance supply and demand. Steps include increasing refinery production and extending gas booking periods from 21 days to 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas. This will ease supply pressure and ensure equitable distribution for all.
It is also encouraging the use of alternative fuels to reduce the pressure on LPG. It has made available alternative sources such as kerosene and coal. It has issued instructions to relevant agencies to increase coal supplies to meet the needs of small and medium consumers. It has also advised states to provide new LPG connections to residential and commercial consumers.
Digital services have been further expanded for consumer convenience. Currently, approximately 95 percent of LPG bookings nationwide are done online. Additionally, 91 percent of deliveries are processed through the DAC (Delivery Authentication Code) system. This helps prevent gas misappropriation.
The government has clarified that LPG supplies in the country are currently operating normally. It stated that no gas shortages have been reported in any region. On April 7, 2026, the government demonstrated the stability of the situation by supplying 5.35 million domestic cylinders in a single day. The government is taking strict action against illegal hoarding and black marketing. It has conducted thousands of raids across the country and seized thousands of cylinders. Distributors found violating regulations have been fined and even suspended.
Even under the current circumstances, fuel supplies are continuing uninterrupted, which is good news for the common man. The central government advises the public not to worry, but to rely on official information and use it as needed.
