Life Certificate: Big news for pensioner. The Central Government has set November 30th as the deadline for submitting life certificates. Today is the last day. Pensioners need to submit life certificates every year to keep their pension flowing without interruptions. This life certificate is an official document that verifies the pension recipient is alive. The continuation of the pension relies on this document. If it’s not submitted on time, it could lead to a lot of hassles.

Pensioners can submit their life certificates both online and offline. The government is also providing special assistance for seriously ill pensioners. Bank staff are even going to hospitals to help those who are seriously ill with their life certificates. Now, let’s see what happens if you miss the deadline for submitting your life certificate.

According to media reports, if pensioners don’t submit their life certificate by the deadline, the bank or the pension disbursing authority will temporarily hold their pension. This means that the pension for the next month won’t be credited to their account. But don’t worry, this hold isn’t permanent. Once the pensioner submits their certificate, the pension will be resumed. This measure is in place to avoid any incorrect payments. Sometimes, due to outdated records, pensions might get credited to the wrong account. That’s why the government regularly asks for this certificate from all living pensioners.

How can you submit your life certificate?

Pensioners can submit the certificate through any method they prefer, either offline or online.

Offline method

Pensioners can hand in the certificate in person at their pension disbursing bank branch or agency. Make sure to bring documents like your Aadhaar card/pension ID, bank passbook, pension account statement, and a passport-size photo (which some banks require).
