Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while promoting digitization in the country, launched the ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana‘ (PMJDY) in the year 2014. The main objective of this scheme was to open zero-balance accounts for the poor and backward people of the country so that they could be brought under the ambit of financial inclusion.
Under this scheme, accounts of crores of people have been opened so far, and its benefits are being availed not only by the people of rural but also by urban areas. But, the government has set some eligibility criteria for this scheme. Today we will tell you who cannot join the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and what are its rules so that you can take advantage of this scheme with complete information!
These people cannot open Jan Dhan’s account

Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), crores of people in the country have benefited and their zero-balance accounts have been opened. But the government has also fixed some strict rules under this scheme. Only those people can open an account in this scheme who come under the preview of these rules.
The minimum age of the person to open an account in this scheme should be 10 years. However, the benefit of insurance will be available only to people aged 18 to 59 years.
In this scheme, priority will be given to those who are poor, whether they are from rural areas or urban areas.
Let us tell you that no citizen working in the Central Government or State Government will be able to open an account in this scheme. Similarly, retired employees from the central or state government also cannot open an account in this scheme. This ensures that the benefits of the scheme reach the underprivileged.
People who pay income tax also cannot open an account in the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. This scheme is designed for the financially weaker sections and not for those who are already financially capable.
