Jan Dhan Yojana Latest News

Last Monday, a news item related to Jan Dhan Accounts spread rapidly, in which it was claimed that the government has instructed the banks to close the inactive Jan Dhan Accounts. This news worried many account holders. But now the Finance Department has denied all these reports. Let’s know what the Finance Ministry has to say about the future of your Jan Dhan accounts.

Finance Ministry denies rumors

According to a report by the news agency PTI, the Department of Financial Services (DFS) of the Finance Ministry has clearly stated that they have not given any instructions to the banks to close the inactive accounts of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY). This news is completely a rumour.

Jan Dhan accounts are being promoted

The Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, while denying the news of closing the accounts, said that the government has started a campaign from July 1, under which Jan Dhan accounts will be further promoted.

Three-month campaign

DFS has started a three-month campaign across the country from July 1. The main objective of this campaign is to spread information about Jan Dhan Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, and other welfare schemes to as many people as possible.

Goal

This campaign is part of the government’s goal of promoting financial inclusion and providing banking services to every household.

What will happen to inactive accounts

Under this campaign, DFS is appealing to all bank account holders to get their KYC (Know Your Customer) done again. The government has also asked banks to redo KYC for all inactive and important accounts.

Department monitoring

The Department of Financial Services has clarified that it constantly monitors the accounts opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and the accounts that have become inactive.

Instructions to banks

Banks have been instructed to contact inactive account holders and re-activate their accounts. This means that instead of closing the accounts, the government wants these accounts to be used again.

Continuous increase in the number of Jan Dhan accounts

The number of total PMJDY accounts is witnessing a steady increase. The Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance has no information about the large-scale closure of inactive accounts. These figures confirm that the government is committed to continuing this scheme and connecting more and more people to the banking system.
