In the past few days, complaints about IndiGo flight cancellations and delays have risen so rapidly that thousands of passengers have become distressed. In response to the incessant complaints on social media and passenger distress, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has been forced to intervene. The Ministry has issued clear and strict instructions to the airline to process all pending refunds immediately, and has given the airline a deadline of 8 pm on December 7, 2025, to clear all pending refunds; violations of which will result in strict action.

How to File an Immediate Complaint If Your Refund is Delayed

If your IndiGo flight has been cancelled and your refund has not yet arrived, filing a complaint is now easier than ever. The first method is to visit the airline’s official website, where the refund-related complaints option is provided in the customer support section. Here, you can submit a complaint by uploading your PNR number, mobile number, and other necessary details.

The second and most effective method is the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s AirSewa app or portal. This platform is available for instant passenger complaint registration. Once a complaint is filed, you receive a tracking number, allowing you to personally monitor updates at each stage. The Ministry has clearly mandated IndiGo to ensure that passengers do not have to repeatedly call or email for updates; processing should begin immediately upon filing a complaint, and refunds should be issued as quickly as possible.

Refund Facilitation Cell Created for Passenger Assistance

To address refund-related complaints, manage the situation, and quickly resolve issues, the Ministry has issued an extraordinary mandate to IndiGo to establish a dedicated Passenger Support and Refund Facilitation Cell. This dedicated cell will directly contact passengers whose flights have been cancelled or disrupted. This will eliminate the need for passengers to email or call every other day for updates.

Restoration of the Automatic Refund System

The Ministry has strongly stated that the automatic refund system should not be discontinued until airlines fully normalize their operations. This simply means that as soon as a flight is cancelled, the refund process will begin immediately, without any further requests. This change is a major relief for millions of passengers, as the most common complaint until now was the need for constant follow-up for refunds. This initiative is a powerful step towards passenger-centric service.
