New Delhi: The month of March is fast approaching its halfway mark, and summer temperatures are already rising rapidly. The heat typically associated with April and May has already begun to leave people drenched in sweat. Remarkably, however, in several parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Kashmir, fresh snow continues to fall on the mountain peaks.
Consequently, the downward trend in temperatures persists in these regions. Meanwhile, in the capital—Delhi and the NCR—the heat continues to intensify, with no immediate relief in sight. In parts of South India, however, rainfall has certainly made the weather more pleasant. Temperatures are also now on the rise in the northeastern states. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rain alerts for various regions across the country.

What to Expect in Delhi
According to the Meteorological Department, there appears to be no good news—or relief—in store for the residents of Delhi-NCR. Even in the month of March, the scorching sun has already left people reeling from the heat. Thursday could potentially be recorded as the hottest day of the year so far in Delhi, with the mercury poised to cross the 36°C mark. For tomorrow, Friday, March 13, the sky is expected to remain clear. The maximum temperature is forecast to reach 34°C, while the minimum is expected to hover around 17°C.
Heat Breaking Records in Gujarat Too
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of conditions ranging from heatwaves to severe heat prevailing across several parts of Gujarat on March 13. Temperatures in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions are expected to reach dangerously high levels. Other parts of Gujarat are also likely to experience intense heat during this period.

Will It Rain Here?
The Meteorological Department has indicated that the impact of the heat will persist across Western India. Conversely, the weather in Northeast India is expected to present a completely different picture. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall in several parts of Northeast India, leading up to March 18. Furthermore, there is a possibility of very heavy rainfall being recorded at isolated locations in Arunachal Pradesh on March 13.
A warning for heavy rainfall has also been issued for Assam and Meghalaya, valid through March 15. Meanwhile, there is also a possibility of rainfall in certain states across Eastern India. Rain is forecast for Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim between March 12 and 16. A spell of heavy rainfall is likely to occur on March 13. The possibility of rain accompanied by strong winds has also been indicated for Bihar, Jharkhand, and Coastal West Bengal.
Know the Weather Forecast for These States
The IMD has issued an alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across several states. Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may witness spells of strong winds accompanied by thunder and lightning between March 14 and 16. Wind speeds in these regions are expected to range from 30 to 50 kilometres per hour. Thunderstorms and lightning are also anticipated in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
