The automatic ticket system of the Railways gives priority to these special category passengers and automatically allocates the lower berth even if it is not selected during online ticket booking. This step is an important effort towards making the journey of women passengers even more convenient.
Seats are reserved for every coach
Indian Railways has reserved 6-7 seats in every coach of Sleeper Class (SL) as lower berths and 4-5 seats in Third AC (3AC) for special passengers. 3-4 seats are also available as lower berths in Second AC (2AC). This reservation ensures that needy women passengers can get comfortable seats.

Booking will be easy and on priority
An automatic algorithm has been incorporated into the railway ticket booking system, which allocates lower berths based on age and category during ticket booking. As soon as a senior citizen, Divyang or pregnant woman passenger enters their information, the railway system allocates them lower berths on a priority basis. This also makes the process of ticket booking easier and increases the chances of needy passengers getting their preferred seats.
