Indian Railway Rules- Big news for train travellers. Every day, crores of people travel by Indian Railways. In such a situation, the railways also take full care of the facilities of its passengers. In today’s time, passengers have started bringing laptops along with their mobiles. In such a situation, the train has made charging arrangements on every seat for the passengers, but do you know that you cannot charge the phone all the time in the train?
According to the rules of Indian Railways, you cannot charge for some time. Yes, if you are traveling in a train, then keep in mind that you have to leave home with a fully charged phone and laptop.
Why can’t you charge your phone at night?
Indian Railways prohibits passengers from charging their smartphones or laptops in the train between 11 pm and 5 am. This is done to prevent any kind of accident in the railway train. In fact, often people leave their phones on charging or forget them and if someone sleeps with their phone or laptop on charging at night, it can cause a short circuit. In such a situation, the railway prohibits its passengers from putting their phones on charging during the night.
It is not that the Railways has implemented any new rule. From time to time, the Railways keeps issuing orders regarding this thing. In 2014, the Railway Board had given this order to curb fire accidents in trains. After this, in 2021 also the Railways issued this order for every zone. But due to lack of information, most of the passengers are not aware of this rule.
Sometimes, due to high or low voltage, it is not advisable to charge a laptop in the train, because the laptop can get damaged in low voltage conditions. On the other hand, if high voltage electronic items are charged in the train, then the chances of short circuit and fire increase. Due to which the lives of many passengers can be put at risk. Let us tell you, last year i.e. in 2023, the Railways has banned charging mobile and laptop in the train at night time.
What punishment can be given?
There is 147 Railway Act, under which a crime is registered for entering a restricted area or unauthorizedly. According to this section, if the offender uses any thing in the train which is banned, then he can be fined one thousand rupees along with 6 months imprisonment or both.
