In any new Pay Commission, the fitment factor acts as a multiplier used to determine an employee’s basic salary. Increasing this factor results in a corresponding increase in the basic pay. If an employee’s current basic salary is ₹18,000 and a fitment factor of 2.57 is applied, their new salary is expected to rise to approximately ₹46,260. Overall, there is a likelihood of a salary increase ranging from 30% to 34%—a trend consistent with previous Pay Commissions. This time around, along with salaries, an increase in pensions is also anticipated. A hike in pensions would provide significant relief to retired employees.

When Can the 8th Pay Commission Be Implemented?
Central government employees are now eagerly awaiting the implementation of the new Pay Commission. The commission is scheduled to be constituted in the year 2025. A timeframe of 18 months has been allotted for the submission of its report. It is widely expected that the recommendations will be submitted to the government by June 2027. Subsequently, the Central Government will implement these recommendations, leading to a substantial increase in basic salaries.
