To check the deactivation status of your PAN card, you first need to visit the official website of the Income Tax Department.
Then, on the homepage, click on the “Verify PAN Status” option under Quick Links.

After that, you need to fill in your PAN number, name, date of birth, and mobile number. Enter the number that is linked to your PAN.
After this, an OTP will be sent to your mobile number for verification, which you need to enter.

How to link PAN and Aadhaar
You can link your PAN card with your Aadhaar card through Income Tax e-filing.

For this, you first need to visit the Income Tax e-filing website.
Then, click on the “Link Aadhaar” option.

Now, enter your Aadhaar and PAN number.
After that, enter your registered mobile number.

Then, click on “I agree to validate my Aadhaar details with UIDAI”.
After this, you will receive a message on your mobile number stating “PAN Has Been Linked Successfully”.

However, you will have to pay a penalty of Rs. 1000.

What happens if PAN and Aadhaar are not linked?
If your PAN and Aadhaar are not linked, you will face problems in receiving your ITR refund. This will cause problems when filing ITR returns next year. TCS or TDS will be deducted at a higher rate. There will be problems opening a bank account. Getting a debit or credit card will be difficult. You won’t be able to deposit more than Rs. 50,000 in a single day at a bank or post office. You won’t be able to transact more than 2.5 lakh rupees in a financial year. You cannot conduct transactions of more than 10,000 rupees at any bank.
