If you are thinking of getting a PAN Card, then this news is very important for you. The Government of India has made the Aadhaar Card a mandatory document for the PAN Card. This means that from July 1, it is very important for you to have an Aadhaar Card to get a PAN Card. Not only this, your mobile number should also be linked to Aadhaar, because while making a PAN Card, your identity will be verified through Aadhaar only. Let us understand this new change in detail and know what effect it will have on you.
What are the new rules, and what has changed
Before July 1, 2025, it was not necessary to have an Aadhaar Card to get a PAN Card. You could also apply for a PAN Card with other documents. Now this rule has changed. An Aadhaar Card is mandatory to get a PAN Card. While applying, an OTP will come to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar, which will verify your identity. If you do not have an Aadhaar Card, not only will your PAN Card not be made, but many government works related to it will also stop.

It is necessary to link PAN-Aadhaar by December 31
If you already have a PAN Card but do not have an Aadhaar Card, then you still need to be cautious. The government has made it mandatory to link all PANs to Aadhaar by December 31, 2025. If you do not link your PAN and Aadhaar by this date, then your PAN Card will be canceled. The government is taking this step to prevent tax evasion and bring transparency in financial transactions.
Link PAN and Aadhaar like this
If you have both PAN and Aadhaar but they are not linked yet, then you can do this work from home with this easy process:
First of all, go to the official website of Tax e-Filing.
Click on the option of ‘Link Aadhaar’ given on the homepage.
Now enter your PAN and Aadhaar number.
Enter your mobile number given in the registration of both cards.
Verify the information by entering the OTP received on your mobile.
After this, the message “Pan Has Been Linked Successfully” will appear on the screen.

What to do if you don’t have an Aadhaar card
If you don’t have an Aadhaar card yet, go to your nearest Aadhaar center immediately. You can find your nearest center through the official website of UIDAI or the mAadhaar app.
While going to get Aadhaar, carry the necessary documents for proof of your identity and address.
Proof of identity: PAN card, passport, voter ID, driving license, ration card, etc.
Proof of address: passport, voter ID, electricity bill, water bill, bank statement, etc.
With this change, the process of making a PAN card has become more secure and convenient. If you have not done this work yet, then complete it as soon as possible.
