Govt issued new EPFO rules for employees, let’s check out

Ahead of 2025, central govt issues new rules regarding EPFO. EPFO makes every effort to provide the best service to its members. For this, EPFO can soon bring the 3.0 (EPFO 3.0) project. However, no official announcement has been made regarding this yet.

There is a question in the minds of many people about EPFO that whenever there is a job change, then a new UAN number has to be generated for investment in EPFO. There is confusion in people’s minds about this. We will give you the answer to this question below. Before knowing the answer, let’s know what is the UAN number?

What is a UAN number?

The Universal Account Number (UAN) is a Universal Account Number (UAN) issued by the EPFO. This number is 12 digits. Every EPFO has a unique UAN number. It works like a bank account number. This number helps in withdrawal from EPFO funds and transfer to EPFO account.

What needs to be changed UAN number?

EPFO shared a post on social media X (X) about this. According to this post, if you change jobs, then you do not need to change the UAN number. Actually, only one UAN number is issued on an EPF account. If a member has two EPFO accounts, then he has to merge these accounts. Actually, according to EPFO rules, every employee should have only one PF account. If someone has two UAN numbers, then he will have to go to the EPFO portal and transfer the previous UAN service to the current UAN.

Keep UAN number active

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has launched a campaign in association with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). According to this campaign, all employees will have to keep their UAN number active. If the UAN number is not active then the EPFO member may have to face the problem. However, the EPFO had given a deadline of 30 November 2024 to keep the UAN number active, which has now passed. If you have not activated your UAN number yet, then you should contact the employer or EPFO office once.
