Noida International Airport will start from March 28, Know the details

Noida International Airport: The wait is about to end. The construction of the Noida International Airport in Jewar is nearing completion. It is set to be inaugurated on March 28, 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officiate the opening of this significant greenfield airport project. Commercial flights are anticipated to commence shortly after. Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu mentioned that flight services usually begin 45 days to two months following the issuance of an aerodrome license. Hence, it is expected that flights from Noida International Airport may start soon after the official inauguration.

State-of-the-art airport

Noida Airport has been designed with cutting-edge technology. The ILS (Instrument Landing System) CAT-III technology will be implemented here. This will enable aircraft to land even in heavy fog. Rain will not disrupt flights either. Pilots will be able to land safely in low visibility conditions. Presently, this capability is only available at Indira Gandhi International Airport and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in the country.

These airlines can start services

As per media reports, in the initial phase, three major airlines are expected to commence their operations from this airport:
– IndiGo
– Akasa Air
– Air India Express

With the introduction of these airlines, passengers will have improved options for both domestic and international travel.

30 flights are operated in an hour

Noida Airport will facilitate parallel flights, enhancing air traffic management efficiency. Around 30 aircraft will be able to take off and land every hour. This will offer passengers improved connectivity and reduced waiting times. In the first phase, the airport will be able to handle 12 million passengers annually. In subsequent phases, this capacity will be expanded to 70 million passengers.It has a 3,900-meter-long runway, which can accommodate large (wide-body) aircraft.The airport has been equipped with modern navigation systems, an instrument landing system (ILS), and modern lighting systems. These facilities will enable the airport to operate day and night and in all weather conditions.

The airport is located near the Yamuna Expressway. It is designed as a multi-modal transport hub, offering excellent connectivity via road, rail, metro, and other regional transportation modes. The airport has been designed as an environmentally sustainable project, aiming to be a net-zero emission airport, meaning it will not harm the environment. The airport’s design will also reflect Indian culture, including architectural styles inspired by ghats and mansions.

Jewar Airport has a 3,900-meter-long runway, allowing for easy landing and takeoff of large wide-body aircraft. It is equipped with modern navigation systems, such as an Instrument Landing System (ILS), and advanced airfield lighting. This will enable year-round, all-weather, and 24-hour flights.
