Bank Holidays in April 2026: Throughout April 2026, banks nationwide will be closed for a total of 14 days. This count includes the regular weekly holidays. When excluding these weekly breaks, banks will actually be closed for eight days due to various festivals and activities related to the financial year-end. Hence, it is recommended that customers verify the bank holiday schedule for their respective cities ahead of time to prevent any last-minute inconveniences. Below is the RBI holiday calendar.

Banks will be closed nationwide on April 1

The month kicks off on April 1st, when banks across the nation will shut down for the annual account closing. No offline transactions will be conducted on this day. While bank branches will technically be open, there will be no public services available. The branches will not be accessible to the public. Bank staff will be occupied with their year-end closing tasks.

Good Friday holiday on April 3

On April 3, banking services will be unavailable in several cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bengaluru, in observance of Good Friday.

Holidays in various states from April 14 to 16

During this timeframe, banks will be closed in states such as Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu due to celebrations of Bihu, Vishu, Tamil New Year, and Ambedkar Jayanti.

Effects in some states on April 20-21 as well

Banking services will be restricted on these dates in states like Karnataka and Tripura.

Digital services will remain operational

Even though bank branches will be closed, customers can still transfer or withdraw funds using UPI, mobile banking, internet banking, and ATMs. However, services like check clearing, demand drafts, and transactions requiring branch visits will not be available on these days. Therefore, it is advisable to complete any necessary banking activities before the holidays to avoid complications later.
