PM Awas Yojana: A new update of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) has brought great relief to these families. The list of the first installment under this scheme was released in May 2025, in which an amount of ₹ 40,000 is being sent to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Amount of the first installment and its purpose
Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, a total financial assistance of ₹ 1,20,000 is given in three installments. From May 2025, an amount of ₹ 40,000 will be sent to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries as the first installment.
This amount especially helps in laying the foundation of the house and building the walls of the first floor. It provides significant financial support to the beneficiary at the beginning of the construction of the house, so that they can do the further work comfortably.
This year, the government has set a target of 84.37 lakh houses for this scheme, which means that lakhs more families will be able to build permanent houses by joining this scheme. This scheme is especially for those families who are below the poverty line and who do not already have a permanent house. It aims to protect them from the ravages of weather and provide a safe shelter.
How to check your name
It is very easy to check your name in the list of the first installment of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin. For this, you have to visit the official website of the government pmayg.nic.in.

You can also check the list by entering the name of your state, district, block, and village. This option is extremely useful for those who do not remember their registration number.

Apart from this, you can also check your status using the UMANG app or Awaas+ app. These digital mediums help beneficiaries to know the status of their application easily. This way, you can find out whether your first installment money has been transferred or not while sitting at home.
Required documents and eligibility
It is very important to fulfill some required documents and eligibility conditions to receive the first installment amount.
- Aadhaar card.
- Bank account details.
- Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) number.
- MGNREGA Job Card.
The most important thing is that the beneficiary’s family should be below the poverty line and they should not already have a permanent house. If your KYC is not complete, you must complete it immediately, as without correct KYC the payment may stop. Providing the correct information of the documents and updating them on time is an important part of this scheme.
What to do if the name is not on the list
If your name is not on the list, there is no need to worry. Sometimes there may be a delay in the name appearing in the list or your application may not have been processed properly. In such a situation, first of all, contact your nearest Panchayat office, Block office, or CSC (Common Service Center) center. Your problem can be resolved there and you will get guidance about the further process. They can check the status of your application and tell if any document is missing or if there is any other problem.
