Tatkal ticket booking has always been one of the most sensitive services of Indian Railways. As soon as the booking window opened, tickets would become unavailable within moments. Ordinary passengers felt that the system was rigged against them and that software or agents were snatching up the tickets. To eliminate this mistrust, the railways have redesigned the entire system.

Aadhaar Linking and Account Verification Mandatory
Under the new rules, Tatkal tickets can now only be booked through fully verified IRCTC accounts. Passengers will have to link their accounts with their Aadhaar cards. Profiles with incomplete names, identity details, or other necessary information will be automatically blocked during booking. This will curb the old problem of booking tickets under fake names.
Direct Attack on Fake Bookings and Black Marketing
During booking, the passenger will have to provide the same identification details that match their Aadhaar or other government-issued ID. The railways believe that this will largely eliminate the practice of black marketing and reselling tickets at inflated prices. This change will directly weaken the tout network.
Major Technological Improvement, Software Booking Restricted
The railways have implemented state-of-the-art technical filters that will identify and block auto-fill tools, scripts, and bots in the initial seconds. Now, it will not be easy to book tickets in the blink of an eye using software. This improvement will give genuine passengers a fair chance.
Reduced Payment Failure Issues
The biggest problem for passengers was at the final payment stage, when the payment would fail despite a seat being available. In the new system, the payment gateway has been made faster, more secure, and more stable, increasing the chances of ticket confirmation.
Strict Monitoring of Agent Activities
Special monitoring will be kept on agent bookings in the initial moments after the Tatkal window opens. New tracking tools will ensure that ordinary passengers get the first opportunity and that agents cannot misuse the rules.

What Passengers Should Prepare
The railways have advised passengers to keep their IRCTC profiles fully updated, ensure Aadhaar linking, and check their internet connection before booking. If all the details are correct, the chances of getting a confirmed ticket will be higher than ever before.
