Finally state government employees get good news about DA. The Sikkim government has just revealed that there will be an increase in the dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for state employees and pensioners. This update was shared through an official circular.
According to the circular, starting July 1, 2024, the DA for state government employees and the DR for pensioners who are on the revised pay scale will rise from 50% to 53%, marking a 3% increase.
What are the specifics?
In a circular dated March 21 from the Controller of Accounts and Secretary of the Finance Department, it was announced that the DA for state employees and the DR for pensioners on the older pay scale will go up from 239% to 246%, effective July 1, 2024.
Central employees can expect good news soon too!
Central government employees won’t have to wait long for their DA increase, and pensioners can also look forward to a rise in their DR. Reports suggest that a final decision could be made in the upcoming Union Cabinet meeting scheduled for this Wednesday. Media sources indicate that this time, a 2% increase in DA is likely, which would be the smallest hike in the past seven years. Traditionally, the central government announces DA increases around Holi, but this year, no announcement has been made yet.
