Gold Price Decline
The decline in gold prices, which began in the last week of 2025, continued into the first week of 2026. In a week, gold prices suddenly fell by up to Rs 4,121 per 10 grams. On December 26, 2025, the cost of 24-karat gold with a February 5 expiry on the Multi-Commodity Exchange was recorded at Rs 1,39,873 per 10 grams. By Friday, the last trading day of the first week of the new year, it had fallen to Rs 1,35,752 per 10 grams.

Not only on MCX, but also according to the updated rates on the Indian Bullion Jewellers Association (IBJA) website (IBJA.com), the 24-karat gold rate has fallen from Rs 1,37,956 to Rs 1,34,782 over the past week. Gold has become cheaper by Rs 3,174 per 10 grams.
Silver Price Continues to Fall
In the past week, the silver price has become cheaper by up to Rs 3,188 per kg. On December 26, 2025, the cost of 1 kg of silver was Rs 2,39,787, which, despite an increase of Rs 726 on Friday, closed at Rs 2,36,599.
