Flight Advisory: Big news for flight passengers. National Capital Delhi On Thursday, December 18, the city woke up to thick fog and mist. Because of the low visibility, Indira Gandhi International Airport put out a notice for travelers, alerting them that low visibility procedures (LVP) were in effect, although flight operations were still running smoothly without any significant issues.
In a travel advisory released at 4:30 am, officials from Delhi Airport mentioned that the foggy conditions had greatly decreased visibility, leading to the activation of LVP to keep aircraft operations safe. They also reassured that flights were operating as usual when the advisory was made.
Currently, low visibility procedures are active at Delhi Airport, but all flight operations are normal. “Passengers are encouraged to reach out to their respective airlines for the latest flight updates,” the advisory shared on X stated. Airport officials urged travelers to stay connected with their airlines for the most current information on departures and arrivals, as the weather could affect flight schedules.

The airline said this could affect its primary hub in Delhi, as well as some other airports in northern and eastern India, and some additional cities. The national carrier also outlined steps it is taking to mitigate passenger inconvenience caused by fog disruptions. It said it will provide round-the-clock assistance to help passengers make alternative arrangements if needed.
Under Air India’s “FogCare” initiative, passengers whose flights may be delayed will receive advance alerts on their mobile phones. Furthermore, affected passengers will be given the option to change their flights at no additional cost or receive a full refund of their booking.
