FASTag Benefits: If you own a car, having a FASTag is now commonplace. Initially, it was implemented to provide relief from long queues at toll plazas. Over time, the role of FASTag has evolved, and it is no longer just a means of paying toll tax. In the direction of Digital India, it has become a tool that is making road travel easier than ever before.
How FASTag Works
A FASTag is a small tag that is affixed to the windshield of a vehicle. It is linked to your bank account or wallet. As soon as the vehicle approaches a FASTag reader, RFID technology scans the tag, and the predetermined amount is automatically deducted. This eliminates the need to stop the vehicle and also saves time and fuel.

Easy Payment of Parking Fees
Now, parking fees are being paid through FASTag in many major cities. In FASTag-enabled parking lots at malls, airports, and hospitals, the fee is automatically deducted at the time of entry and exit. This eliminates the hassle of taking parking tickets or paying cash and also reduces congestion.
Pay at Petrol Pumps with FASTag
The government also plans to link FASTag with petrol and diesel payments. In the future, the amount can be deducted directly from the FASTag account after refueling. This will eliminate the need to use cards or UPI and will make the payment process even faster.
Use at EV Charging Stations
Given the increasing number of electric vehicles, work is also underway to facilitate EV charging payments through FASTag. After charging the vehicle at a charging station, the fee will be deducted directly from the FASTag, eliminating the need for electric vehicle drivers to use additional apps or cards.

Pay for Highway Amenities

Plans are also underway to collect entry charges in some cities through FASTag. This will reduce traffic jams and make travel more convenient.
