FASTag Annual Pass: The Annual Fastag Pass was launched by the government on 15 August, i.e., Independence Day. The purpose of launching this annual Fastag pass is to give people more travel at a lower price and to get rid of more toll taxes. In this Fastag pass, people will get up to 200 journeys on a recharge of Rs 3000 annually. This means that the fare per toll pass will be only Rs 15. As soon as this Fastag was launched, people praised it a lot. Let us tell you that now about 30% of private cars and jeeps on the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway are using an annual Fastag pass. This figure is three times higher than other national highways across the country.

Increasing demand for an annual pass
Vishal Chauhan, member of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), said that he hopes that by Tuesday, the number of private vehicles taking a one-year Fastag pass will reach 10 lakh. This pass is very useful for those who often travel on the highway.
Vishal Chauhan said that there has been no major problem in implementing this scheme, and it gives relief to travelers from paying toll repeatedly. He gave this information in a workshop of ‘Build India Foundation’, in which Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Secretary V Umashankar were also present.
Nitin Gadkari said this with emphasis
Minister Nitin Gadkari said that if we are charging people for good service, then it is important that we also give them quality roads. If the service is poor and toll is collected, then criticism is certain. Along with this, he has instructed the officials to clearly write on every highway section which contractor and officer is responsible for that part, so that accountability can be fixed. Gadkari said that transparency in the quality and construction of the project is very important.

Ignoring future needs proved costly
Road Transport Secretary V Umashankar gave the example of the NH-48 project in Gurugram. He said that the future needs were not estimated correctly in this highway project. It was not thought that the highway would divide the city into two parts, and people would need a safe crossing. After this, NHAI had to spend extra money. He said that to avoid such mistakes in the future, it is important to pay attention to future challenges while making plans.
