EPFO Latest Update: The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) had already announced the interest rate of 8.25% for the new financial year 2024-25 in the month of February 2024. However, the interest amount has not yet been credited to the accounts of all EPF members. So, will you suffer a loss due to the delay in interest crediting? And how can you check your PF balance? Know the whole thing.
Delay in PF interest
The delay in this work may be due to the administrative process. EPF interest is credited to the accounts of EPF members only when the government issues an official notification. Therefore, many members may feel that a delay in interest crediting may affect their total returns. But is it so? Let’s know.
According to Paragraph 60 of the EPF Scheme 1952, interest is calculated as per the monthly balance, even if it is credited at the end of the financial year. Because of this, the member does not suffer any loss due to the delay in interest credit. Interest calculation based on monthly balance ensures that every contribution gets the full declared rate. Interest is calculated as compounded annually, so even if there is the delay in deposit, the total amount gets added to your final closing balance for the present year. So, rest assured, the delay will not cause you any loss.
