EPFO has issued a warning to employees who have not yet activated their UAN account. The EPFO stated that every employee must activate their Universal Account Number (UAN) and connect their Aadhaar card to their bank accounts. This task must be finished by November 30, 2024, which is the deadline. During the General Budget 2024, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced three ELI schemes (A, B, and C). All companies are advised to make sure that UAN activation and Aadhaar linking for all new employees are done, as the advantages of ELI will be provided through DBT.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment announced on 21 November 2024 that employers must finish the UAN activation process with Aadhaar-based OTP for all new employees by 30 November 2024. The ELI program is a government effort to boost employment in the formal sector and generate job opportunities. This scheme consists of three sections: Scheme A, Scheme B, and Scheme C.

The EPFO stated in a circular released on November 22, 2024, that all EPFO customers must possess a Universal Account Number (UAN) linked with their Aadhaar.
