Drone Didi Yojana: The central government has introduced a new initiative aimed at empowering women through employment opportunities in drone operation. This program, titled ‘Namo Drone Didi Yojana,’ seeks to revolutionize the agricultural sector.
Training lasting between 2 to 4 weeks
Participants will receive training lasting between 2 to 4 weeks, enabling them to become certified drone pilots. The training will be conducted at government-approved centers. By utilizing drone technology, women can enhance the efficiency, affordability, and effectiveness of agricultural tasks.
Aim of this initiative
The primary objective of the ‘Namo Drone Didi’ initiative is to strengthen women-led self-help groups (SHGs) by providing them with the necessary drone technology. During the period from 2024-25 to 2025-26, the program aims to supply drones to 15,000 women SHGs, allowing them to offer agricultural services to farmers on a rental basis.
Oppertunity to genarate additional income of at least Rs 1 lakh
This initiative is anticipated to generate an additional income of at least Rs 1 lakh annually for each SHG, thereby fostering economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods. Additionally, a subsidy will be available for women in DAY NRL-SHG to assist with the purchase of drones, covering 80 percent of the drone’s cost, up to a maximum of Rs 8 lakh.
Loan facility
A loan facility will also be accessible through AIF for the remaining amount, with a favorable interest rate of 3%. Training for drone piloting will be included as part of the drone package, and women self-help groups will provide drone spraying services to farmers on a rental basis.
