Pensioners DA Hike: There is good news for government employees, pensioners, and family pension holders in Jammu and Kashmir. The Omar Abdullah government has given a big gift to employees and pensioners working under the 7th and 6th pay scales. The state government has increased the DA of those in the 7th pay scale by 3 percent, after which the DA rate has increased from 55 percent to 58 percent.
Similarly, the DA of those in the 6th pay scale has been increased by 5 percent, after which the DA rate has increased from 252 percent to 257 percent. The new rates will be applicable from July 2025. This will benefit 5.10 lakh employees and 2.40 lakh pensioners in the state. The Finance Department has also issued four separate orders in this regard.
Arrears will also be paid
Millions of employees and pensioners received a gift: DA increased, 3 months’ arrears also credited, Finance Department issued an order, increased salaries will be credited to accounts in November. Under the Finance Department’s order, the new rates will be effective July 1, 2025. The arrears for July, August, and September 2025 will be paid in cash in October, and the increased DA will be paid in November along with the October salary and pension. This order applies to employees receiving salaries based on the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations and retired personnel receiving pensions accordingly.
Earlier in the month of June, the dearness allowance of Jammu and Kashmir government employees, pensioners and family pension holders under the 7th Pay Commission was increased by 2 percent, after which the DA increased from 53 percent to 55 percent. The new rates were made effective from January 1, 2025.
The dearness allowance and dearness relief of employees and pensioners covered under the Sixth Pay Commission were increased by 6 percent, after which the DA/DR increased from 246% to 252%. At present, there are more than four and a half lakh employees and around 2.38 lakh pension and family pension holders in Jammu and Kashmir.
Before Diwali, the Central Government had increased the dearness allowance and relief rates of central employees and pensioners by 3%, after which the DA has increased from 55% to 58% from January 2025. After the Centre, now the state governments have also started announcing the DA hike. So far, the governments of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar, Sikkim, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh and Odisha have increased the DA of their employees and pensioners. The benefit of the increased DA will be given in the salaries of employees and pension of pensioners in November along with the salary of October.
