The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a flagship farmer welfare scheme of the Central Government, aimed at providing financial assistance to small and marginal farmers. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive Rs. 6,000 annually to help them cover their farming expenses. This amount is transferred directly to the farmers’ bank accounts in three installments, eliminating the role of intermediaries.

How many people from a family can avail the benefits of PM Kisan?
The biggest question regarding the PM Kisan scheme is whether all members of the same family can avail its benefits. According to government rules, only one person from a family is considered eligible for this scheme. The benefit can only be availed by the family member in whose name the agricultural land is registered in the government records. Even if the husband and wife or other family members cultivate the land together, they will not receive separate installments.

Under what circumstances can two members be eligible?
In some specific circumstances, two different members of the same family can avail the benefits of the PM Kisan scheme. For this, both must have separate agricultural land registered in their names and are registered as separate families in government records. Simply having separate bank accounts or different names is not considered sufficient. Eligibility is determined only after verification of land documents, family identification, and local-level verification.

The government is continuously verifying the data of the beneficiaries. If a farmer has submitted more than one application from the same family against the rules or has provided incorrect information related to land, their name may be removed from the beneficiary list. In such cases, future installments are stopped, and sometimes recovery of the amount already received is also initiated.
