\The Bihar government has started a new scheme to improve the economic condition of women and give them jobs. This scheme is called Chief Minister Mahila Rojgar Yojana. Now, CM Nitish Kumar has launched the official portal for this scheme. He also released the application form for women who want to join. A short film showing the government’s work and women empowerment schemes was also shown.

CM Nitish Kumar also flagged off 250 awareness vehicles from Anne Marg campus. These vehicles will help inform people about the scheme. The CM said that the government is working to make women self-reliant and is fully committed to women’s development.

Women Reservation and Self-Help Groups

During the portal launch, CM Nitish Kumar said that the government will give 50% reservation to women in Panchayati Raj and Municipal Corporation elections. The government has also increased the number of self-help groups by taking loans from the World Bank. Now there are more than 11 lakh self-help groups, with 1 crore 40 lakh Jeevika Didi’s associated.

CM Kumar added that self-help groups started in urban areas in 2024, and now there are 37,000 groups with 3 lakh 85 thousand Jeevika Didi’s. By joining these groups, women are becoming educated, aware, and self-reliant.

Women’s Empowerment and Key Schemes

CM Nitish Kumar said that in 2013, 35% reservation was given to women in police recruitment, and in 2016, 35% reservation was given in all government services. The government also implemented liquor ban on women’s demand.

Important schemes like Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyami Yojana, and Mukhyamantri Balika Cycle Yojana are running for women’s development. Special rules are made for women to get higher education. Educated and self-reliant women make a strong society.
