Another major update for Aadhaar Card holders. If you haven’t updated your Aadhaar in the last decade, it’s time to head to the nearest Aadhaar center and get it sorted. If you don’t, your Aadhaar card could be canceled, and then you might have to make a trip to the UIDAI headquarters in Delhi to fix the issue.

UIDAI checks Aadhaar cards every 8 to 10 years, and if your card hasn’t been updated in a while, it could be marked as inactive and potentially canceled. This system is in place to help keep track of active Aadhaar cards.

Once your Aadhaar card is canceled, you’ll need to go to the UIDAI headquarters in Delhi to resolve the issue at their help desk, as Aadhaar centers can’t reactivate canceled cards.

Don’t forget to upload a photo ID proof!

As per Operation Manager Digvijay Chaudhary, most cardholders don’t need to change their name or address, so they don’t have to update their identity. However, to ensure that these cardholders are still alive, UIDAI requires everyone to upload a photo ID proof every 8 to 10 years. You can use documents like a PAN card, voter ID, passport, or driving license.

Make sure to keep your biometric and iris updated!

Digvijay Chaudhary also mentioned that senior citizens’ fingerprints can change over time, which can lead to issues with biometric verification. Many complaints arise from problems with ration cards and attendance verification. So, it’s a good idea for Aadhaar cardholders to update their finger biometrics, iris, and facial biometrics every ten years.
