GST- Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a kind of tax system in India, which is imposed on various goods and services sold in India. GST was introduced by the government in the year 2017, after which now the central government can give relief to the common people from Goods and Services Tax (GST).

The government is discussing making some changes in the GST slab, after which some essential items can also become cheaper for the common people. Actually, the proposal is to reduce GST on some essential items from 12 percent to 5 percent. At the same time, the 12 percent GST slab should be completely abolished.

These items fall in the 12 percent GST slab

Most of the items falling in the 12 percent GST slab are used in the daily life of common people. These items include many items like clothes, mobile phones, soap or toothpaste, toffees, shoes and dairy products. Apart from this, things like cheese, preserved fish, bricks, nuts are also included in it. In such a situation, if the government abolishes the 12 percent GST slab, then the things used in everyday life will become cheaper for the people. However, no official statement has come from the government regarding this yet.

56th meeting of GST Council will be held soon

The decision to abolish the 12 percent GST slab can be taken in the 56th meeting of the GST Council to be held in the coming days. It is being estimated that this meeting may take place at the end of this month.
