Banks will remain closed for 15 days in August!
According to the bank holiday calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks may remain closed for almost half of this month. However, these holidays are not the same in all states. Some holidays are state-specific, while some are valid as national holidays. Apart from this, you should also remember that in the month of August, banks will also remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. In total, these become 15 days.
Independence day this month
This month, there is a holiday on Independence Day on 15th August. There will be a bank holiday across the country on this day. Apart from this, this month there are holidays on Tendong Lho Rum Faat festival of Sikkim, Raksha Bandhan/Jhulan Purnima, Parsi New Year (Shahanshahi)/Janmashtami, Janmashtami (Shravan Vad-8)/Krishna Jayanti, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur’s birthday, Disappearance date of Srimanta Shankardev, Ganesh Chaturthi, Ganesh Chaturthi (second day)/Nuakhai etc.

- On August 8, 2025, banks will remain closed in Sikkim on account of Tendong Lho Rum Phat.
- On August 9, 2025, banks will remain closed in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh on account of Raksha Bandhan and Jhulan Purnima .
- On August 13, 2025, banks will remain closed in Manipur on account of Patriotism Day.
- On August 15, 2025, banks will remain closed across India on account of Independence Day.
- On August 16, 2025, banks will remain closed in Gujarat, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Srinagar and Andhra Pradesh on account of Janmashtami/Krishna Jayanti.
- On August 19, 2025, banks will remain closed in Manipur on account of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur’s birthday.
- On August 25, 2025, banks will remain closed in Assam on account of Srimanta Sankardeva’s death anniversary.
- On August 27, 2025, banks will be closed in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bangalore, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Goa and Andhra Pradesh on account of Ganesh Chaturthi.
- On August 28, 2025, banks will be closed on account of Nuakhai in Odisha and Ganesh Chaturthi (second day) in Goa.
