Big news for Ayushman card holders. In Uttarakhand, only those individuals whose ration cards are visible online on the Food Department’s portal will have valid Ayushman cards. This update has been implemented by the State Health Authority to combat fraud within the Ayushman scheme.

To obtain an Ayushman card, applicants must possess a ration card. However, numerous instances have emerged in the state where individuals held valid ration cards and also had Ayushman cards issued to them. Following a verification drive by the Food Department, many ineligible individuals either surrendered their ration cards or had them canceled.

Despite the cancellation of some ration cards, a significant number of people continue to benefit from the Ayushman card. Recently, the government directed the State Health Authority to take action against fraud related to Ayushman cards, leading to a verification process.

As part of this initiative, Ayushman cards are being canceled for those whose ration cards do not appear online on the Food Department’s portal. Authority Chairman Arvind Singh Hyanki confirmed this action, stating that instructions have been issued to officers and hospitals regarding the matter.

The health department is starting to issue Ayushman cards using ration cards, but a lot of folks are missing out on this benefit because their names aren’t on the ration card or there’s a mismatch with their Aadhaar number. Even when families have six members or more, they’re facing issues with Aadhaar linkage. Unfortunately, the health department isn’t providing clear answers, which is stopping these individuals from accessing the scheme’s benefits.
