The Punjab government has taken a historic step, providing significant relief to its citizens in the healthcare sector. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme from the new year. This scheme aims to free every family in the state from the worry of expensive medical treatment. The government claims that this scheme will prove to be a milestone in providing better and more accessible healthcare services to every citizen of the state.
First-of-its-kind health cover in the country
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that Punjab has become the first state in the country where every family will receive cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh completely free of cost. This scheme will be operated and monitored by the state’s health department. According to the government, neither the patient nor their family will have to make any payment during the treatment.
The government’s focus on financial security
The Chief Minister explained that the main objective of this scheme is to protect people from the financial burden caused by serious illnesses. Expensive operations, prolonged treatment, and life-saving facilities often cripple ordinary families financially. Under the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme, it will be ensured that no citizen suffers due to a lack of treatment.
Benefits available in government and private hospitals
A special feature of this scheme is that its benefits will not be limited to government hospitals only. The Punjab government has also included private hospitals in this scheme so that people have more options for treatment. Citizens of the state will be able to avail of cashless treatment in the listed government and private hospitals in Punjab and Chandigarh.
Preparing to strengthen healthcare services
The government believes that this scheme will not only provide relief to the general public but will also strengthen the state’s healthcare system. With better treatment, timely medical facilities, and financial security, the Punjab government is moving towards laying the foundation of a healthy society.
